<p>&#8220;Subsequently, Baldessari devised a number of different methods for arriving at unorthodox pictoral solutions that are connected to the real world by photography. <em>Cigar Smoke to Match Clouds That Are Different (By Sight &#8211; Side View)</em> (1972-73) and <em>Throwing Balls in the Air to Get a Straiht Line</em> (Best of 36 Tries) (1972-73) demonstrate how camera frees the artist from hand-drawn, formal invention and its accompanying decision-making processes by mechanically providing him with given shapes. In the first work, puffs of smoke from the artist&#8217;s mouth are paired with rectangular reproductions of clouds in a group of prints and, in the second, rubber balls assume different configurations against the blackground of the sky in each of four prints.&#8221;</p>

<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;text-align: justify;font: 12.0px Optima"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px"><span id="more-260"></span> Como que uma vontade para fuga do próprio eu (que pode não ser consciente). Talvez seja esta “secreta” aspiração que causa em nós o desejo “secreto” de nos querermos ver como um estranho para que com essa distância sejamos apenas um objecto. Desse objecto, fazemos o que queremos: inventa-se uma história, uma personagem, um comportamento. Uma composição ficcionada que provém dessa ruminação obcessiva e contínua de estilhaçar o  próprio eu. É uma simulação autoral que parte de um pressuposto de ficção onde se suspendem a realidade e as próprias convenções sociais do eu. Por essa suspensão temporária da descrença impõe-se uma credibilidade forçada que se revela no domínio da ilusão e da dúvida. </span></p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;text-align: justify;font: 12.0px Optima"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px">É neste universo que se poderá enquandrar o trabalho de Sophie Calle e, em particular, a sua colaboração com o escritor Paul Auster (da qual resulta a exposição intitulada <em>Double Game</em>). A artista envolve outras pessoas no seu processo de trabalho, &#8211; agentes, como diria Gamboni &#8211; provocadores da alteridade, do acaso e de um certo descontrolo assumido como parte dos projectos. </span></p>
<p style="margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px;text-align: justify;font: 12.0px Optima"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.0px">O foco da minha reflexão teórica será portanto o trabalho de Sophie Calle e, em particular, a sua metodologia processual.
