The Kingdom is a novel, a performance, and an internet project developedby Dora García with, for, and in the Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona.
The events taking place in the museum between 20 February and 30 March, 2003 (exhibition time), were prophesied by Dora García months in advance and written down in The Kingdom novel. But this novel could also be considered an agenda of the actions a series of actors, the Kingdom players, will perform in the museum between those dates, even though it is hard to make out which actions are performed and which correspond to the museum routine or even to human fate.
To make things more exciting and to enlarge the scope of the Kingdom public (after all, they are potential Kingdom players) a webcam allows internet visitors to follow all the events taking place in the museum.

The Kingdom plays with concepts such as novel, museum, exhibition, performance, audience, performer, live transmission, surveillance,control, coincidence, truth, belief, future... and all these concepts are shifting constantly: from prophecy to agenda to novel, from audience to performer, from live transmission to surveillance, from past to future, from museum to Kingdom.
